Catherine discovered her love of working with children during her teenage years – teaching young swimmers how to swim and campers how to sail, canoe, and row. Inspired by her father to become a teacher, Catherine received her BS in Elementary Education from Texas A&M and taught Kindergarten in the public and Christian school settings for 12 years. In 2007, Catherine and Velda decided to create Brighter Vistas, with the vision of working with and strengthening the hearts and minds of struggling students.
The commitment to work with students in this capacity led Catherine to receive her MA in Reading from SHSU and her Level I, II, and III training through the National Institute of Learning Development. Catherine loves the Lord, loves to laugh, and loves to help children of all ages become precise and accurate in their thinking, their use of the spoken and written word, and in their behavior. When she is not working with students, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family and collecting all things blue!
